Cigar Ashtrays are an essential part of enjoying a proper cigar so don’t even attempt to smoke one without a proper cigar ashtray. It’s like drinking whisky from the wrong glass – who would do such a thing? Try to get one that fits with your “cigar lounge” and humidor, nothing to over the top. Large and chunky always looks good and the heavier the better. Some people like the ones with brand logos on them but I’d stay away if I where you, as you can’t smoke a Montecristo using a Cohiba ashtray – so strictly no mixing I’m afraid.

Standard ashtrays are not suitable for cigar smokers as the ashtray needs to support cigars with large ring gauges. The cigar also needs to rest horizontally on the edge of the ashtray – so make sure it can. Never extinguish a cigar the way you would a cigarette. Cigars should rest horizontally on the edge of the ashtray on just fade out on their own – a bit like alpha legends – they don’t die, they just fade away.

It’s also worth getting more then one ashtray. As they can accommodate from 1 to 4 cigars you should get one for when you are having a stogy by yourself and another one for when you and some friends are downing all the whisky.
